My name is Martha Goodwill Murray Hanks. I was born in Rayne, Louisiana on my grandparents farm on July 30, 1947. My family moved to California in 1957. I attended schools in East Palo Alto and graduated from Ravenswood High School in 1965. I attended San Francisco State College and received a BA with a major in French and a minor in Anthropology. Then I went to UC Berkeley, receiving 2 Lifetime Teaching Credentials, Specializing in Elementary and Secondary Teaching. I have 2 daughters, a son, 2 grandsons, and 4 granddaughters.
